12 May 09 - Harlan Family Bible

because of my great interest in my family heritage.... I've been unofficially deamed the family historian. When Pappy passed away a couple years ago, my Mom inhereted a lot of family heirlooms... one of them being the Harlan family Bible. Just recently, she passed it on to me..

the cover is very thick & sturdy... embossed with gold-leaf letters. Sadly, the spine hasn't held up so well.


the Bible started with TW and Amelia Harlan. (my great-great grandparents). It gives details of their marriage....

and deaths.


Leona Effie Harlan was born in 1902 and died in 1917... just 4 months shy of her 15th birthday. there is a pressed flower petal circle that she had made before her death. There is something surreal about touching things that your ancestors have touched before you.....


the illustrations in this Bible are phenomenal.
